Flora Design Gallery Inspired by flowers, leaves, many from my yard D's Fern Leaf V My sister's photos of backyard nature inspire my design work. I explored the natural order and curve of the leaves. D's Fern Leaf Brown The background beneath the fern leaf is recoloured with a polka dot pattern, adding depth and dimension. D's Fern Leaf Grey The background beneath the fern leaf is recoloured with a polka dot pattern, adding depth and dimension. D's Fern Leaf Purple Adding one colour, this time purple, enables us to see different shapes highlighted. Can you see the aliens? Shasta Daisy V Shape The flora around me is fair game. I especially love shasta daisies with their long, bright white petals and yellow bits. Shasta Daisy VBW The outline of the daisy, a black and white cutout, accentuates the curve of the petals and the middle. Shasta Daisy V Patchwork Exploring the use of patchwork pattern making. There's a mix of purple and multilcoloured squares in this design. Shasta Daisy Patterned An experiment in creating a repeat with shasta daisies in the forefront, and other patterns in the background. Shasta Daisies Abstract V A simple portrait of daisies reworked into a repeat - the leaves highlighted - offers these shapes and shades. Shasta Daisies Abstract Another pattern in the same vein. This version is in shades of green. As a vector, this repeat can be scaled larger. D's Rose Stained Glass My sister's stained glass work is a source of inspiration. This rose called out to me to come and play. And so I did! D's Rose Deep red for the petals, bright green for the stem & leaves. Without the lead, the flower's shapes become blocks. D's Rose x 4 The simplicity and elegance of these roses are set neatly against a black background in this repeat pattern. D's Rose 4 Flowers The original rose shape has become petals to create new flowers in this design, seen in red and pink. Purple Flower Red Petal Experiment with a crop of a red petals. Repeating, moving it into 90-degree directions. Addition of other patterns. Tulip Dainty This is a reworked photo of the bottom of a tulip petal. Dainty, full of texture and lines, and dramatic curves. Tulip Dainty Vertical Stripe Grey The dramatic curves of the dainty tulip produce a compelling design in this repeat. Tulip Dainty Vertical Stripe Red Once again, the same pattern rendered in red. Reminds me of candy, cany canes, with its thin pinstripes swirling. Previous Next
